Connecting People, Preventing Conflict, Strengthening Volunteering

  • Gilbert + Tobin 200 Barangaroo Avenue Barangaroo, New South Wales, 2000 Australia (map)

What if we could address conflict before it becomes a crisis?

Voluntas invites Conflict Resolution Supporters and Volunteer Leaders from charities and not-for-profit organisations to come together for a full day of learning, connection and conversation.

This unique event brings together two groups with a shared interest in creating healthy, constructive and sustainable volunteer environments.

For Volunteer Leaders, it is an opportunity to discover how skilled, independent conflict resolution professionals can support organisations and volunteers to prevent, manage and resolve conflict early — before issues escalate and relationships become damaged. Voluntas’ approach is centred on constructive conversations that enable people to be heard, understand different perspectives, identify what matters to them and work towards practical, mutually acceptable outcomes.

For Conflict Resolution Supporters, the day provides an opportunity to better understand the realities of volunteer-involving organisations, connect with people working on the frontline of volunteer engagement, share experiences and strengthen your practice. At least four units of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) will be available.

And for everyone, it is an opportunity to build relationships across the sector, exchange ideas and explore how we can work together to support positive volunteer experiences.

Special Guest: Benjamin Law

We are delighted to welcome Benjamin Law, Australian writer, broadcaster, author and commentator, as our special guest.

Ben is one of Australia's most prolific interviewers and a familiar voice across Australian media. His work spans writing, broadcasting, screenwriting, theatre and cultural commentary, with a particular interest in people, identity, community and the conversations that shape our lives.

His appearance will bring a distinctive perspective to the day and provide plenty of food for thought about communication, connection, difference and how we engage with one another.

For more information about Benjamin, visit benjamin-law.com.

A day for connection and learning

The event will combine presentations, discussion, networking and opportunities to learn from people working across the volunteer and conflict resolution sectors.

Whether you are responsible for volunteers in a charity or not-for-profit organisation, or you are a mediator or conflict resolution professional interested in supporting the volunteer sector, we encourage you to express your interest.

Places will be limited and priority will be given to people who submit an Expression of Interest.
