Meet the Voluntas Board

  • Steve Lancken

    Steve is a Sydney-based conflict resolution practitioner and mediator, with over two decades of experience in full-time practice since 1999. He played a key role in the founding of Voluntas, recognising the need for pro bono conflict resolution services for those who might not otherwise have access, particularly within the volunteer and not-for-profit sectors. Steve also volunteers with Community First Development, the Sydney Peace Foundation, and mentors law students in conflict resolution at UNSW. In his spare time, he enjoys hitting the road in his van, exploring remote and distant Australian locations.

  • Lynette Edwards

    Lynette is a mediator, conciliator, and conflict coach with extensive experience in over a thousand cases across workplace, commercial, consumer, building and construction, sport, community, residential tenancy, and motor vehicle disputes, to name a few. She has over 15 years of volunteer experience, including with Voluntas, Lifeline (Wesley Mission), Good Life Chorus, Shine for Kids, Barnardos Australia, and Mission Australia. Lynette also volunteers her time judging mediation competitions both locally and internationally. In her spare time, she enjoys music and learning to play new instruments.

  • Laurence Boulle

    Laurence is an Adjunct Professor at Bond University, Director of Independent Mediation Services Ltd, and an Associate with Co-Solve. He is a highly experienced dispute resolution practitioner with more than 30 years of expertise in mediation, conflict management and education. Laurence has authored several leading books on dispute resolution, including Mediation and Conciliation in Australia – Principles, Process, Practice (LexisNexis, 2023), and continues to deliver mediation and conflict management training throughout Australia. In his spare time, he enjoys playing West African djembes.

  • Jessica Rossell

    Jessica trained as a solicitor and is a nationally accredited mediator. She has more than two decades of management experience in government, negotiating with public agencies and engaging with industry, community, Indigenous and environmental stakeholders on complex policy and program issues. More recently, she has resolved consumer disputes in the banking sector and is an accredited conciliator at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. Jessica is committed to helping individuals, organisations and government bodies navigate difficult conversations and reach constructive outcomes. She is a member of the Resolution Institute.

  • Niki Nojoumian

    Niki is a Sydney-based law graduate with a strong focus on dispute resolution, negotiation, and public interest advocacy. She graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2024 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts. Alongside her professional work, Niki volunteers as a debating coach and coaches and judges university mediation competitions across the Asia-Pacific and European regions, supporting the development of advocacy and negotiation skills. She is passionate about promoting equitable access to legal knowledge. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and reformer pilates.
